Review: Skyfall

James Bond is probably one of the most well-known characters in social media, from Sean Connery to Daniel Craig. Now, Craig’s previous outing as Bond is Quantum of Solace and we all know how that turned out, so did the latest installment gave Bond it’s deserved justice? Read-on below.

Synopsis:
Bond's loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her, bringing MI6 under attack , 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.

Story:

Skyfall has probably the most gripping story out of the three previous Bond movies (the other two being Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace). From the first act, middle act and last act it was simply mesmerizing, the story is well though-out, the dialogue is just pure genius, but before all this excitement came forward I was already fascinated with the opening credits, it was just,  wow, well as a whole movie, it definitely is a ‘WOW’.

Acting:
Daniel Craig has never been better as Bond, in this film Bond is washed up, old and feels like he’s catching up with others and Craig portrayed that perfectly. Ben Wishaw as Q was underused for me but he was good in his role. Judi Dench as M is a no-brainer; she already gave a good performance in the other Bond films so there is no doubt that if she will be good or not. Ralph Fiennes as Malory was also good but I just found something missing in him. The person who really stole this movie from the moment he appeared on screen is Javier Bardem as Silva, he was just plain scary, creepy, and everything you could ever ask for a villain. The chemistry between Craig and Bardem was electrifying and every time that both of them appears on screen, it feels like it’s gonna ignite.

Action/Violence:
I still think that Casino Royale holds the crown for best action on the last three Bond films.  But the action this movie is still top-notch and well-choreographed.

Music:
The score and the opening music helped this movie to achieve the tone it needed. Adele performed that is possibly one of her best songs or even one of the best songs of the year. The score, like I said helped set the tone of the movie and it was just good.

Cinematography:
Simply awesome, especially the scene in Hong Kong, it was breath-taking and engaging.

Direction:
I haven’t seen a lot of Sam Mendes movies but I can honestly say that this is probably one of his best works. The pacing in this film is perfect, I never got bored in this and it didn’t feel like a 2 ½ hour movie. Thank you Sam Mendes for directing this film.

Overall:
Skyfall is probably the smartest film of the last outings of James Bond. It was an awesome spectacle from start to finish; the cast probably gave one of their best performances of their careers, especially Javier Bardem who completely stole the movie. Skyfall is definitely one the best movies this year. I give it a 5/5
