Review: A Thousand Words

Eddie Murphy was once one of the best comedians out there, now he's just doing anything he wants whether  if it sucks (Meet Dave) or good (Tower Heist). So is this movie Murphy's redemption at comedy or not?

Synopsis:

Eddie Murphy is Jack McCall, a fast-talking literary agent, who can close any deal, any time, any way. He has set his sights on New Age guru Dr. Sinja (Cliff Curtis) for his own selfish purposes. But Dr. Sinja is on to him, and Jack's life comes unglued after a magical Bodhi tree mysteriously appears in his backyard. With every word Jack speaks, a leaf falls from the tree and he realizes that when the last leaf falls, both he and the tree are toast. Words have never failed Jack McCall, but now he's got to stop talking and conjure up some outrageous ways to communicate or he's a goner. -- (C) Paramount

Story:
The story really is NOT special, it's definitely not one to be talked about, even just for a few days or hours. This movie worked hard to teach some values, it somehow forgot to tell about the story. But, even though it centered more on teaching values, it still came up short.

Acting:
Eddie Murphy was the only character who was fully developed and Clark Duke just seem half-ass developed. Kerry Washington was surprisingly irritating (but looks fine in latex). Eddie Murphy still tickles my funny bones though, their is no doubt about that.

Music:
The background music/s were seems quite a fit for the movie.

Cinematography:
Ehhh, it was pretty generic. Nothing special.

Direction:
The same as Meet Dave. Again, nothing special.

Overall:
This is not the film that Eddie Murphy and fans needs right now, but Murphy still managed to deliver some funny jokes at times. 2/5 for me.
