Review: Total Recall

The original movie was one of Schwarzengger's best movies ever and it is one of my favorite sci-fi. Will the remake suck or not?

Synopsis:
Welcome to Rekall, the company that can turn your dreams into real memories. For a factory worker named Douglas Quaid (Colin Farrell), even though he's got a beautiful wife (Kate Beckinsale) who he loves, the mind-trip sounds like the perfect vacation from his frustrating life - real memories of life as a super-spy might be just what he needs. But when the procedure goes horribly wrong, Quaid becomes a hunted man. Finding himself on the run from the police - controlled by Chancellor Cohaagen (Bryan Cranston), the leader of the free world - Quaid teams up with a rebel fighter (Jessica Biel) to find the head of the underground resistance (Bill Nighy) and stop Cohaagen.

Story:
Len Wiseman said that his take on Total Recall will be different from the original, I say B.S. The story is exactly a carbon-copy of what the original gave. If Wiseman said that his adaptation of Phillip K. Dick's story will be much closer, well then he got it wrong, he might have read the story for the original Total Recall.

Performance:
Colin Farrell is an actor who is a hit or miss and in this, a miss for me. Arnie's portrayal for Quaid was miles better than what Farrell gave. Jessica Biel also bring nothing new to the table as her character was like the one in Blade Trinity. Kate Beckinsale on the other hand was magnificent, she was menacing and determined and it's good to see her character till the end.

Action:
Yes it's action-packed, in fact from start to finish and some of it's action scene was better than in the original, so liked this part of the film.

VFX:
The visuals was one of the good things in this movie as it was an eye-candy. I also liked the robotic cops 'cause they were cool and badass. The futuristic city was good to look at but that's it.

Cinematography:
I got the same vibe from Underworld, so it was nothing new.

Direction:
Len Wiseman is basically a Paul W.S. Anderson but he was just a few inches better.

Overall:
Despite it's amazing visuals and action,it brings nothing new. If I were to compare this to the original, this one is not even worth comparing to the previous one. 'Total Recall' is one of the most disappointing films I've seen this year. 2/5 from me.
